Opt – out PS – Activity

From June 19th, 2024, to March 26th, 2025, I participated in various sports activities such as volleyball and frisbee as part of my opt-out PS. These activities were not only physically engaging but also mentally refreshing, helping me to stay active, develop teamwork skills, and strengthen my understanding of collaboration and perseverance.

LO1: Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth

Engaging in volleyball and frisbee over several months helped me gain a deeper understanding of my physical and interpersonal strengths. In volleyball, I realized that I had strong reflexes and good hand-eye coordination, which helped me during serves and defensive plays. Meanwhile, frisbee required agility, precision, and timing—all of which improved significantly through consistent practice.

At the same time, I also recognized areas for growth. Initially, I struggled with team communication and maintaining focus under pressure, especially during fast-paced games. There were moments when I hesitated to call for the ball or missed opportunities because of poor coordination with teammates. However, as I continued playing, I became more confident in communicating and learned the importance of staying composed during competitive moments.

This experience also enhanced my discipline and consistency, as regular practice sessions required dedication and time management. I learned that progress in sports, like in any other area, comes gradually through persistence and self-awareness.

LO5: Demonstrating Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively

Both volleyball and frisbee are fundamentally team-oriented sports, and they taught me valuable lessons about collaboration, trust, and mutual support. Each game required clear communication, quick decision-making, and collective effort. For instance, in volleyball, every point depended on smooth coordination—from the serve to the set, to the spike. In frisbee, teamwork was about understanding each other’s movements and anticipating passes, which required focus and cooperation.

Through this experience, I learned how important it is to value every team member’s contribution. Even when mistakes happened, encouragement and teamwork helped us improve rather than bring each other down. These games built a sense of camaraderie and belonging, teaching me that success in a group comes not just from individual skill but from trust, communication, and shared effort.

Over time, our teamwork grew stronger—we learned to read each other’s playing styles, adjust strategies, and motivate one another after every game. This sense of unity made every session enjoyable and fulfilling, showing me that collaboration is one of the most rewarding aspects of sports.
