Community Clean Up

Video Reflection: https://youtu.be/SEwAy_lN22A

I participated in multiple beach and wetland cleanups across Surat to reduce litter and environmental pollution. Along with a group of students, we conducted three cleanup drives, targeting areas where waste affected marine life and public health. Our goal was to create cleaner natural spaces and promote awareness about responsible waste management.

LO4 – Perseverance and Commitment:
Staying consistent with weekly cleanups, despite busy schedules or difficult conditions, taught me resilience and the importance of dedication. Seeing visible improvement in the areas we cleaned made the effort truly rewarding.

LO5 – Collaboration:
Working with other volunteers, residents, and local groups helped me understand the value of teamwork. We divided tasks, communicated effectively, and supported each other, which improved my leadership and coordination skills.

LO6 – Global Significance:
This experience made me aware of how local littering links to global environmental issues like pollution and climate change. Contributing to a cleaner environment helped me feel part of a larger movement toward sustainability.

LO7 – Ethical Implications:

This cleanup experience made me realize our ethical duty toward the environment. Every piece of litter reflects a careless choice that harms nature and future generations. By taking action, I understood that ethics go beyond convenience—they involve responsibility toward the planet. It made me more mindful about reducing waste, reusing materials, and promoting sustainable habits. Overall, it strengthened my sense of integrity, accountability, and respect for the environment.

Through this initiative, I embodied the Learner Profile attribute of Caring, showing empathy toward nature and responsibility for protecting the environment. It reinforced that small, local actions can create meaningful global impact.
