As part of my CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) journey in the IBDP, I participated in a sports fundraiser organized in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Udhana under the guidance of Dharmesh Chorawala. This experience provided me with an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while developing valuable personal and interpersonal skills.
The primary aim of the fundraiser was to unite people through sports while raising funds for a social cause. The event fostered an energetic and inclusive environment, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds. It highlighted the significance of community engagement, teamwork, and the role of sports as a powerful medium to encourage participation and raise awareness.
My role involved assisting in organizing matches, coordinating with participants, and ensuring the smooth execution of activities. This required strong communication, effective time management, and adaptability. I encountered challenges such as managing schedules and handling participant flow, but overcoming these obstacles helped me become more confident, flexible, and solution-oriented.
Working under the guidance of Dharmesh Chorawala offered valuable insights into leadership and responsibility. His mentorship emphasized the importance of discipline, planning, and commitment when organizing community-based initiatives.
This experience closely aligned with several CAS Learning Outcomes. I demonstrated LO2 (undertaking challenges and developing new skills) by stepping out of my comfort zone and enhancing my communication and organizational abilities. I contributed to LO3 (initiating and planning a CAS experience) through my involvement in the event’s planning and execution. I showed LO4 (commitment and perseverance) by remaining dedicated despite challenges. Additionally, I achieved LO5 (working collaboratively) by cooperating effectively with my team, and LO6 (engagement with global issues) by supporting a cause focused on community welfare.
Overall, this sports fundraiser was a meaningful and enriching experience. It demonstrated how collective effort and careful planning can create a positive impact on society. This project not only strengthened my practical skills but also reinforced the importance of service, collaboration, and social responsibility in my CAS journey.
