Bal Mela was a community outreach event where children from government schools were invited to participate in various activities. I took part by offering face painting as an engaging activity. This was an opportunity to interact with younger students and provide them with a fun experience.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
I had not done face painting before, so the task initially felt unfamiliar. Managing a long queue and maintaining consistent quality required focus and adaptability. Over time, I developed better control and efficiency in handling designs.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
While the task itself was individual, we worked as a team to manage the long ques of children, distribute materials, and guide children through different activity stations. This level of coordination contributed to the smooth flow of the event.
LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
The experience offered perspective on disparities in access to recreational and creative outlets among children from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Engaging in such events helps promote inclusivity and community participation, both of which are relevant in broader global contexts.
