Activity – Fresher’s (Dance)

Fresher’s Day is a special welcoming event organised by us, the 12th-grade students, to warmly receive and celebrate the arrival of the new 11th-grade students into the DP (Diploma Programme) community. This event is more than just a party—it’s a tradition that symbolises friendship, support, and a sense of belonging. As seniors, we take great pride in planning and preparing a vibrant lineup of activities, dance performances, and live music to ensure that the freshers feel truly welcomed and excited about the journey ahead.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

Through this event, I demonstrated Learning Outcome 3, as I took the initiative to help plan and structure the entire experience. From the beginning, I was involved in brainstorming ideas, coordinating with my peers, and figuring out how to make the event both fun and welcoming for the new 11th-grade students. I had to think critically about how to organize activities, manage time, and ensure everything aligned with the spirit of the DP community. Taking responsibility for specific parts of the event helped me grow in my ability to plan and carry out complex tasks.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Learning Outcome 4 was shown in the perseverance and commitment I brought to the process. There were moments when things didn’t go as planned—schedules clashed, rehearsals ran late, and unexpected problems came up. But I stayed committed to the event and pushed through those difficulties, knowing that the outcome would be worth it. Balancing this commitment with my academic responsibilities required real effort and time management, and I’m proud of the dedication I maintained throughout.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

I also developed a deeper understanding of Learning Outcome 5 through the teamwork involved. Fresher’s Day could not have happened without collaboration. I worked closely with classmates, teachers, and performers, and I learned how important communication and trust are in a group setting. Sometimes we had disagreements or different ideas, but we always found ways to compromise and support each other. Working as part of a team allowed me to strengthen my interpersonal skills and showed me how rewarding it can be to achieve something together.
