Global oddysey

As part of my IBDP CAS experience, I participated in Global Odyssey, an event that brought together students to showcase entrepreneurial skills through various stalls. Along with three other group members, I set up a stall where we sold jewelry and claw clips, aiming to provide trendy and affordable accessories while learning the intricacies of business operations. This experience was both challenging and rewarding, allowing me to develop key skills and reflect on my actions through the lens of CAS learning outcomes.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Setting up and running a stall required consistent effort, from brainstorming product ideas to managing sales on the day of the event. We faced challenges such as pricing our products competitively, attracting customers, and ensuring smooth financial transactions. Despite these hurdles, we remained committed to our goals, adjusting our sales strategies and maintaining enthusiasm throughout the event. Our perseverance paid off as we successfully sold a significant number of items and gained valuable insights into entrepreneurship.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Collaboration was crucial to our success. Each team member had specific responsibilities—some focused on marketing, while others handled inventory and customer interactions. By effectively dividing tasks and supporting one another, we ensured that our stall operated efficiently. Communication played a key role, as we had to constantly discuss sales strategies and adapt to customer preferences. This experience highlighted the importance of teamwork and how diverse skill sets contribute to achieving a shared goal.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Throughout this experience, we were mindful of ethical considerations in business. We ensured that our jewelry and claw clips were sourced responsibly, avoiding unethical suppliers. Additionally, we set fair prices, balancing affordability with reasonable profit margins. We also engaged with customers respectfully, creating a welcoming atmosphere and promoting transparency in our transactions. This reflection on ethical decision-making reinforced the responsibility that comes with entrepreneurship.
