Excitement was in the air at the FS Lit Fest. Being invited as an in-school author is always an honor, and this year was no different. As I took the stage, I experienced that well-known excitement of sharing my experiences and world with an audience full of passionate listeners. Preparing for the Lit Fest is always a journey in itself. It was an opportunity to go back and review my own writing process, think about what inspired me to write “The Un-Finished,” and decide what I want to convey to the reader, and aspiring authors.
LO1: Identifying Own Strengths and Developing Areas for Growth
Preparing for the Lit Fest was deeply reflective. I identified my strength in connecting with the audience and igniting their passion for storytelling. Seeing that spark in their eyes confirmed this. However, I also recognized the need to refine my ability to articulate the writing process, moving beyond anecdotes to offer more structured advice. The Q&A further highlighted the importance of adaptability and quick thinking in communication – skills I’m now actively working to refine.
LO2: Demonstrating that Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills
The Lit Fest presented several challenges. My goal was to inspire and empower potential writers. This required developing a presentation that resonated with a diverse audience, from active writers to hesitant beginners. I incorporated interactive elements and tailored my message. Meeting individuals after the presentation, some struggling with underconfidence, presented another challenge. I learned to provide personalized encouragement and practical advice, developing my communication and mentorship skills.
LO4: Showing Perseverance and Commitment in CAS Experience
My Lit Fest involvement wasn’t a one-off event; it required sustained effort. From planning and refining my writing process to crafting the presentation and preparing for the Q&A, I dedicated significant time. I connected with individuals after the Lit Fest, offering continued support, demonstrating my commitment to fostering a writing community. This follow-through, this dedication beyond the event itself, clearly demonstrates perseverance and commitment.
The FS Lit Fest is more than an event; it’s a celebration of stories. Being a part of that magic is incredibly fulfilling. It was a journey of personal growth, skill development, and unwavering commitment, leaving me with a renewed appreciation for storytelling and nurturing creativity.
