LitFest is an annual school event that celebrates literature, creativity, and cultural diversity. As a volunteer, I was responsible for assisting in the bookmark-making activity, ensuring that students had the materials they needed and guiding them through the process. With participants ranging from Grades 7 to 12, my role was to help maintain a smooth flow.

LO3: Initiate and plan a CAS experience
I had to be quick in adapting to my assigned role. I was given instructions on what needed to be done, and from there, I had to ensure that participants understood the activity and had a positive experience. This required basic planning and problem-solving on the spot, as I had to manage materials and assist students with their designs.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and benefits of working collaboratively
I worked alongside two other volunteers, and we coordinated our efforts to manage the participants effectively. By dividing responsibilities, we ensured that no student was left without guidance and that the activity progressed smoothly. Our ability to communicate and assist each other made the experience more efficient and enjoyable.
LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
During Litfest, I had to ensure that every participant had an equal opportunity to engage in the activity, regardless of their skill level or prior experience. Ethical considerations came into play when managing resources fairly, ensuring that no student was left out and everyone got a chance, and maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment. Since the activity involved expression, it was important to respect each participant’s ideas and originality.
