Abal Nahi Sabal_Service

For my CAS experience, I participated as a volunteer in the initiative “Abal Nahi Sabal,” where we painted tote bags to be sold in order to raise funds for an NGO that supports disabled children. The primary goal of this initiative was to contribute to their essential needs, including education and other necessities. This experience allowed me to use my creativity to make a social impact, combining artistic expression with a meaningful cause.

LO4 – Show Perseverance and Commitment in CAS Experience

Throughout this experience, perseverance and commitment were essential in ensuring that our goal was achieved. The process of designing and painting tote bags required patience and dedication, as we aimed to create high-quality designs that would appeal to buyers. Additionally, organizing and managing the sales process required consistent effort and teamwork. Despite challenges such as time constraints and maintaining artistic consistency across multiple bags, I remained dedicated to the project. My commitment was evident in my willingness to put in extra hours to perfect designs and in my determination to contribute meaningfully to the cause. This experience reinforced the importance of staying persistent in achieving a collective goal. Furthermore, it aligned with the sustainability goal of Reducing Inequality, as our efforts directly contributed to improving the opportunities available to disabled children. I also developed the caring learner profile attribute, as I dedicated my time and effort to making a positive impact on their lives.

LO5 – Demonstrate Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively

This CAS experience required extensive collaboration with my fellow volunteers. We worked as a team to brainstorm design ideas, divide responsibilities, and ensure a smooth execution of the initiative. Effective communication was key to coordinating efforts, from deciding on the best painting techniques to strategizing sales approaches. By working together, we were able to produce a variety of unique and attractive tote bags, ultimately increasing our chances of raising more funds. This experience helped me understand the value of teamwork, as I saw firsthand how combining different perspectives and skills can lead to a successful outcome. Additionally, I learned to be more flexible and open-minded, adapting to different working styles and problem-solving together when challenges arose. This collaborative effort strengthened my communication skills, as I had to engage with my team and buyers to effectively convey the purpose of our initiative. Moreover, this experience reinforced my commitment to the sustainability goal of Reducing Inequality, as we worked together to support a marginalized community.

LO6 – Engagement with Issues of Global Significance

This initiative directly addressed the global issue of reducing inequality, particularly in the realm of education and opportunities for disabled children. Around the world, children with disabilities often face barriers that limit their access to quality education and basic necessities. Through this experience, I engaged in an effort to bridge this gap by raising funds to support their learning and development. I gained a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by marginalized communities and realized the impact that small yet meaningful actions can have on improving their lives. This experience reinforced my commitment to advocating for equal opportunities and social inclusion. Additionally, I became more reflective, as I contemplated the significance of my actions and their contribution to a larger global issue. Recognizing the power of community-driven efforts, I also developed a deeper sense of social responsibility.

LO7 – Recognise and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions

One of the key aspects of this experience was ensuring that the funds raised were utilized ethically and effectively. We took responsibility for maintaining transparency in our financial transactions and ensuring that all proceeds were directed to the NGO for the intended purpose. Additionally, I became more aware of the ethical considerations in fundraising, such as ensuring that our messaging was respectful and did not portray the beneficiaries in a way that reinforced negative stereotypes. This experience deepened my understanding of ethical responsibility and reinforced the importance of making conscious, principled decisions in social initiatives. By upholding these values, I developed the principled learner profile attribute, as I ensured that my actions aligned with my ethical beliefs. Furthermore, this experience contributed to the sustainability goal of Reducing Inequality, as our ethically driven efforts helped create a positive impact in the lives of disabled children.
