CAS Trip – Ambapani

CAS Trip was a 1 week trip where I went to Ambapani for exploring the rural life. The CAS trip covered all the 3 strands of CAS which is Creativity, Activity and Service by performing things such as warli art, serving food, trekking and many more. This trip allowed me to learn multiple things and it even made me see the difference between the urban life and the rural life.

Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

There were few things which were challenging throughout the CAS trip such as creating a basket from bamboo was something very new to me and took me some time to get the hang of it. it was really challenging at first since I’ve never done something like this but after I got the hang of it, I was able to do it easily.

Learning Outcome 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

The CAST trip was 1 week long where there was no backing out. I was required to perform all the tasks which were offered at Ambapani which requires some commitment and perseverance which I actually had and throughout that 1 week, I performed all the tasks such as warli painting, trekking and more without backing out or making any excuses to not perform the task.

Learning Outcome 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

There were multiple times that I was required to work in a group to perform a task in CAS trip. Such as during warli painting, I was in a group of 4 where we were painting the walls of a house together. During this time, we assigned tasks and region on which region will be done by what and who will do it. Furthermore, we once even played games in group even where collaboration was required and planning was required on how to perform those games together.

Learning Outcome 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

During CAS trip, we engaged in an issue of hunger where we went “ashram shada” and served food to students living there and even donated some food. Zero hunger is a global issue where millions of people go to sleep without eating anything or not eating proper nutritious food. So during the CAS trip, I did engaged on that issue. Furthermore, land pollutions is also on its peak where there are lots of waste lying on the road. So to tackle that, on the first day we went on cleanup drive where we cleaned riverside area as well as the roads leading to the riverside and donated it to the sarpanch.

Learning Outcome 7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

During the CAS trip, we were meeting people living a rural life so saying anything wrong or abusive can be me ethically wrong and can harm them. Due to which, during the whole CAS trip, before asking a question of saying something, I was required to think twice whether the question wont hurt them and if it is ethically right or not. Such as during the interaction with the kids living in ashram shada.

To conclude, CAS trip allowed me to learn multiple things and helped me grow as a person. I engaged in multiple global issues and trying to solve them by taking small steps. Overall, it was a great experience and I did learn a lot.
