I was selected to work on the promotion of the 11th edition of FSMUN. Throughout the duration of the experience (10th October – 1st December 2024), my work mainly revolved around the filming and editing of social media content to promote the event. The event was an enriching experience as I developed my communication skills, collaborative skills, and creative-thinking skills.

Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

As a learner relatively new to social media and marketing with very limited experience at the time, I faced a few challenges in this CAS experience. I was also new to the environment of an MUN and familiarizing myself with both marketing and a space like FSMUN was a challenge. I gained a lot of knowledge about the same and developed new skills that I have applied to marketing for other events as well.

Learning Outcome 4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

I believe I demonstrated commitment in this CAS experience in multiple ways. I was always eager to make content for social media and through collaboration with other organizing committee members, we were able to increase the social media followers to our target goal. I also put in extra time into this CAS experience, by meeting both inside and outside school to promote the event alongside its sponsors. I think this is clearly depictive of how persevered through the experience and was part of the team that achieved their targets through a lot of dedication.

Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Working with a lot of committee members to ensure the marketing of FSMUN would be a success taught me the significance of collaboration. I demonstrated collaborative skills mainly through the division of work. Reflecting on each of the committee member’s skills, we divided social media work amongst each other, where I mainly worked on filming all promotional content alongside the final event. Through collaborative work, we could also come up with improved and developed content.

Learning Outcome 6: Engagement with issues of global significance.

I did not engage with issues of global significance directly, however through this CAS experience I immersed myself in a space where debate on significant global issues was present. In addition, being a part of an event that promotes partnership amongst young learners and students to discuss challenges faced globally was one way to support the sustainable development goals.

Reflecting on this experience, I can say it truly sparked multifaceted development. It was a very memorable experience where I worked on my collaboration, communication and creativity!
