For PS in school, this year I decided to go with Table Tennis as the sport since from the past 2 years, I have been playing Table Tennis passively but never learnt it properly so I decided to take it as PS and learn it in proper way. I already had prior experience of playing Table Tennis but over the course of 6 months, I have improved a lot.
Learning Outcome 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
When I selected PS and there was the first class, I already knew my strengths which was defence. In table tennis, I was great at defending and playing defence by doing things such as chops. But there were multiple weaknesses to such as I was not able to smash the ball with my overall backhand also being really weak. But over the course of 6 months, I’ve improved a lot with able to smash the ball by also providing topspin and am still improving on the backhand part. Knowing and understand the strengths and weakness was important so that I would know where I need to improve and what are my strong points.
Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
By selecting table tennis in PS, I took the challenge of learning a new skill and improving on the skills which I already know. At first, it was challenging since all the people around me were really skilled and had prior experience of table tennis due to which, I was the weakest of them all. But with the help of ma’am and some teaching, I was able to face those challenge and even develop new skills such as learned different types of serves, learned different spins and many more which has overall made me really confident on my skills.
Learning Outcome 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
To perform this CAS experience, a lot of commitment and perseverance was required since PS happens at least 3 times a week where I was required to attend it every week consistently no matter what. At first, it was difficult since playing table tennis sometimes did made me tired and sometimes even thought of quitting but I did stuck to it and continued to learn and improve my skills.
