Rock climbing was always a interesting sport and a fun hobby I had. it’s about strategy, patience, and determination. As I faced the climbing wall for the first time, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. My goal was simple: reach the top, but soon I understood that the journey mattered more than the destination. Every hand grip and every step required consideration and precision. It was not a physical test, but it was also a test of the mind from the ground up.
From this experience, I wished to test myself, hone my endurance, and develop problem-solving skills—learning how to assess different routes of climbing and conquer challenges confidently. The activity helped me gain a lot more courage and a fresh mindset on trying new things as well.
Learning Outcomes
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth Screen reader support enabled:
One of my positives was the ability to stay strong and keep moving. Despite having tired arms, I could adjust my grip and keep moving. However, I also had to improve on my upper body strength and balance. There were times when I was overthinking and making the climb a lot harder with useless questions that hampered the activity. Having noticed this, I approached climbing more strategically, distributing my weight and conserving energy and focus for more challenging sections.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:
Rock climbing took me beyond my comfort zone. Some spots on the wall looked impossible, but each try taught me something new—how to shift my weight and how to have faith in my position. Learning to trust my grip and make strategic steps was a valuable lesson both off and on the climbing wall. Along with Rock climbing as a new skill, the courage to do something new was also a unique set of skill that I learned.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:
There were moments of frustration—when my hand slipped, when my muscles ached, or when I couldn’t find the next hold. But instead of giving up, I kept going. With each climb, I became stronger, more confident, and more resolute. I discovered that perseverance isn’t just about finishing something—it’s about pushing yourself through pain and adversity until you reach your destination. Along with the climb, the perseverance of going every time to climb the same wall with increased difficulty in front of many people was challenging.

Key Takeaways
This experience taught me that rock climbing is as much about mindset as it is about physical ability. It challenged me in unexpected ways, showing me the importance of adaptability and resilience. Every climb required me to trust myself, embrace the struggle, and keep moving forward. Beyond the sport itself, rock climbing was an exercise in patience, determination, and willpower. It demonstrated that every obstacle—on a climbing wall or in life—is just another opportunity to push beyond the limits and discover fresh reservoirs of strength.
