G12 Farewell

Grade 12 Student’s Farewell was an experience unlike any other—one where creativity, planning, and cooperation were put into practice to leave an indelible mark on the graduating batch and a exciting celebration. Being part of the Organising Committee (OC), my tasks involved decoration and event design, so I made sure every aspect, right from the mood to the rhythm of activities, conveyed the feeling of farewell.

Learning Outcomes
LO2Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Organizing an event of this magnitude had its share of obstacles. From making last-minute decoration changes to having everything ready on time especially the cake mess up and handling the decor pieces, there were numerous variables to adjust. I learned how to problem-solve in the moment, be resourceful under pressure, and make good use of time. This experience also honed my ability to remain calm under pressure and be creative through the audience’s perspective.

LO4Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The process demanded tireless effort and commitment. There were early mornings of preparation, endless discussions, and the urgency to get everything right. We persevered, however, working every morning to get the setup just right, organising logistics, and making sure that every aspect fell into place. The end result made it all worth it and the seniors loved it, emphasizing the value of persistence and commitment.

LO5 Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Teamwork made the farewell possible. The coordination with various teams—media, event flow, logistics, and decor—impressed me with the necessity of good communication and delegation. We depended on the strengths of others, worked through stressful periods together, and created something a million times bigger than what one or all of us could ever accomplish individually. The success of the event was testimony to the power of ideas being brought together by collaboration.

Key Takeaways
Being part of the Grade 12 Farewell OC was an incredibly fulfilling experience. It taught me that behind every great event is careful planning, teamwork, and dedication. The day was magical—not because of the decorations or the speeches alone, but because of the emotions, the shared memories, and the joy of celebrating a journey together.

It taught me problem-solving and organization, but more importantly, it taught me the strength of making moments truly count. Witnessing the seniors smile, laugh, and experience their school days for the last time was making all the work worth it. It was not goodbye—it was a celebration of all they had achieved, and I was privileged to be part of it.
