Description of the Experience
For my CAS activity, I chose to participate in table tennis as a way to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. I practiced regularly after school and participated in friendly matches to improve my technique, consistency, and focus. My goal was to enhance both my physical fitness and mental concentration while managing my academic workload effectively.
Learning Outcomes (LOs)
- LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through this experience, I recognized my strengths in hand-eye coordination and quick reflexes. However, I identified areas for improvement such as stamina, strategic play, and patience during long rallies. By reflecting after each session, I was able to track my progress and set new goals for improvement. - LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Initially, maintaining control and accuracy under pressure was difficult. Over time, I developed better timing, movement, and focus. I also learned how to handle competitive situations calmly and developed resilience after facing losses in practice matches. - LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
I showed consistent commitment by attending every practice session, even when faced with academic pressure or physical fatigue. My perseverance helped me improve my overall performance and discipline, which also benefited other areas of my life.
Reflection
This CAS experience allowed me to embody the Balanced learner profile by maintaining harmony between academics, physical health, and personal well-being. Playing table tennis became an outlet for stress and a way to stay mentally refreshed. I learned that living a balanced life involves consistency, self-awareness, and commitment to personal growth.
Overall, this experience strengthened my time management skills and taught me the importance of dedicating time to both fitness and academics for a healthy, productive lifestyle.
