FS Got Talent

I participated in the band competition segment of FS Got Talent and performed live with my group. After weeks of rehearsals and coordination, we were proud to win 1st place. The experience required commitment, creative input, and collaboration as we worked to create an engaging and well-practiced performance for the school community.

Learning Outcomes Demonstrated:

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:
This experience helped me understand my strengths in adaptability, creativity, and confidence when performing in front of an audience. I noticed that I can stay focused under pressure and bring energy to the stage, which motivated the rest of my group as well. At the same time, I realized areas I still need to grow in, such as technical precision with my instrument, maintaining consistent rhythm, and exploring more advanced techniques. Recognizing these strengths and growth points has given me clearer direction for how I can continue to improve as a musician.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:
Performing live posed several challenges—managing stage fright, staying in sync with my bandmates, and making sure the overall performance felt polished. I had to push myself beyond my comfort zone, especially in learning how to keep calm when small mistakes happened on stage. Through this, I developed new skills in stage presence, improved my sense of timing, and learned how to listen actively to others while performing. I also gained experience in problem-solving when things did not go as planned during rehearsals, which ultimately made our performance smoother.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:
The competition required consistent effort and dedication over multiple weeks of rehearsals. There were moments when practices felt exhausting or progress seemed slow, but by staying committed and encouraging each other, our group built confidence and improved significantly. I showed perseverance by practicing outside of scheduled sessions, refining difficult parts, and ensuring I was always prepared for group rehearsals. This commitment not only contributed to our victory but also strengthened my resilience and work ethic.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance:
Although our performance was school-based, we engaged with global significance by considering how music acts as a universal language that brings people together. We carefully selected songs that were meaningful yet appropriate for a diverse audience, ensuring inclusivity and respect for cultural sensitivities. We also learned how important it is to create art that uplifts and connects communities, highlighting how creativity contributes to well-being across cultures.

Reflection:
Winning FS Got Talent was exciting, but more valuable was the journey of teamwork, self-growth, and artistic expression. It helped me build confidence as a performer and reinforced how collaboration can turn individual skills into something impactful. This experience showed me the importance of creative expression in personal and community well-being.
