Global Odyssey 5.0 (Creativity)

Selling food items was a new and exciting challenge for me. I had to quickly learn how to price our products smartly, manage ingredients and inventory, and interact effectively with customers. At first, things didn’t go as smoothly as we had hoped—our initial sales were lower than expected. But this experience helped me understand important aspects of customer preferences and food presentation. It encouraged me to adjust our approach, improve our stall setup, and try different promotional strategies, which eventually boosted our sales and overall success.

Learning Outcome 1 – Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth

During the Global Odyssey event, where we were tasked with creating a small business by selling food items and generating profit, I had the opportunity to identify and reflect on my personal strengths and areas for improvement. I realized that I’m good at communicating with customers and promoting our product effectively, which helped attract more people to our stall. However, I also noticed that I need to improve my time management and budgeting skills, especially when it comes to preparing stock and estimating costs. This experience helped me understand how to better balance creativity with practicality, and showed me where I can grow in future entrepreneurial tasks.

Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

As part of the Global Odyssey event, we were given the challenge to run a food stall with the goal of making a profit. This wasn’t just about selling food—it was about building a mini-business from the ground up. We had to brainstorm ideas, create a menu, source ingredients, set competitive prices, and present our stall in a way that would attract customers. Throughout the process, I faced several challenges, especially around time management, budgeting, and working efficiently in a team under pressure.

One of the biggest learning experiences was understanding customer preferences and adapting our approach in real-time. For instance, when we noticed certain items weren’t selling well, we quickly came up with strategies to promote them better or offer combo deals. I also had the opportunity to improve my communication skills, as I interacted with a wide range of people—persuading customers, coordinating with teammates, and handling feedba

Learning Outcome 3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experienc

As part of the Global Odyssey event, we were tasked with planning and executing a business experience focused on generating profit by selling food. This required us to initiate the experience by forming a team, identifying our individual strengths, and assigning roles accordingly—such as finance, marketing, cooking, and customer interaction.

We began by brainstorming food items that would appeal to our target audience while remaining cost-effective and feasible to prepare. Once we finalized our product, we planned the budgeting, sourced the raw materials, and created a pricing strategy that would ensure both affordability and profit. We also developed a marketing plan which included posters, social media promotion, and word-of-mouth advertising to attract more customers.

Throughout the planning phase, we faced challenges such as budgeting constraints, coordinating team schedules, and managing resources effectively. However, overcoming these obstacles taught us the importance of flexibility, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

Learning Outcome 4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

During the Global Odyssey event, our task was to set up a food stall and earn profit through strategic selling, creativity, and teamwork. This wasn’t just about selling food—it was a full entrepreneurial experience that demanded long hours of preparation, including budgeting, menu planning, designing posters, and even marketing our stall to attract customers. Throughout the process, we encountered several obstacles, such as last-minute changes in pricing, limited resources, and high competition from other groups. However, we remained committed to our plan and continued working together with a positive mindset.

There were moments when sales were low or things didn’t go as expected, but instead of giving up, we adjusted our approach, introduced combo offers, and improved customer interaction. Our determination to make the most of the opportunity helped us bounce back. I learned that staying dedicated even during tough situations can lead to success. By the end of the event, we not only made a decent profit, but also gained valuable lessons in resilience, teamwork, and business skills. This experience truly helped me understand what it means to persevere and stay committed to a shared goal.

Learning Outcome 5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

During the Global Odyssey event, our goal was to generate profit by selling food items, which required strong teamwork and collaboration. From planning our menu and sourcing ingredients to setting up the stall and managing sales, each team member had a specific role, and effective communication was key to our success. We faced challenges like time constraints and customer demands, but working together allowed us to adapt quickly and solve problems efficiently. This experience helped me understand the value of listening to different perspectives, delegating tasks based on individual strengths, and supporting one another to achieve a common goal. Not only did we make a profit, but we also developed essential collaborative skills that are valuable both in and out of the classroom.
