JSEF (Jaipur Student Entrepreneurship fest)

The Jaipur Student Entrepreneurship Fest was an unforgettable experience where we took on the challenge of representing our school, Fountainhead School, entirely on our own. Unlike the other groups who were accompanied by school representatives and teachers, we managed the entire journey on our own, from boarding flights to fulfilling tight timelines at school while rehearsing how we would present our idea. Our idea was about sustainable coffee pods, a breakthrough idea to save the coffee business from plastic pollution and waste management. Under the pressure, we successfully went through all the rounds, presenting our vision with clarity and passion. In the end, our perseverance paid off: our team took home nearly all of the awards at the competition, demonstrating that determination and cooperation can lead to great things.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:

JSEF was not about pitching an idea, but it was about overcoming obstacles. From balancing multiple school deadlines to booking our own flights, we learned to master time management and problem-solving skills. The competition itself challenged us to hone our pitching skills, think quickly, and respond to surprise questions from the judges. This taught us to be resilient, proving that even in pressure situations, we could step up to the challenge.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively:

Winning was less about having a good idea and more of was about how we worked as a team. With no outside assistance, we had to trust each other—whether it was perfecting our pitch, supporting each other before presenting, or just keeping each other’s spirits up. We learned that excellent collaboration isn’t just about dividing work but learning about the strengths of others and covering for them when things weren’t going so great.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance:

Our project addressed an issue of international importance: sustainability. The coffee business generates millions of plastic pods annually, adding to waste in the environment. By offering a sustainable option, we weren’t simply competing; we were fighting for a change in consumer behavior to be more environmentally friendly. This experience reminded me of the need for innovation in sustainability, and how young entrepreneurs can contribute to creating a more sustainable future.

Final Takeaways

JSEF was more than a mere competition, it was a test of our independence, adaptability, and determination. We discovered that getting out of our comfort zones, owning up to our work, and trusting our ideas could take us places. From driving in a foreign city by ourselves to being on stage and presenting in front of established teams, every experience was an opportunity for us to learn something new. Wining nearly all the awards was just the icing on the cake, the actual triumph was in the development, confidence, and entrepreneurial ability we developed in the process.
