Food stalls of Global Odyssey

Global Odyssey was a vibrant and dynamic school event hosted by the students for the subject business management, and as the team head for all stalls and food-related planning, I took on the challenge of organising and overseeing the entire food section. My role involved coordinating with over 60 people, ensuring each stall was well handled, and managing food logistics to create a seamless experience for the attendees. The goal was not just to provide delicious and diverse food but also to create an engaging and fulfilling event while keeping in touch with the teachers. From assigning roles to troubleshooting challenges, I had to stay adaptable, think on my feet, and ensure everything ran smoothly, along with taking load of teachers.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Taking charge of the food section allowed me to recognize my strengths in leadership, communication, and quick problem-solving. I realized that I thrive in organisation and people skills, especially when working with multiple teams and handling unexpected challenges throughout. However, I also learned that giving roles is key—trying to manage everything alone can be overwhelming and frankly, not possible. This experience taught me to trust my team, distribute responsibilities efficiently, and focus on big-picture coordination rather than micromanaging every detail allowing me to develop the new skill.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

From the early planning stages to the final execution, this event required extensive organization and foresight. Coordinating with over 60 people meant ensuring clear communication, structured stall assignments, and a well-thought-out food lineup. I learned that flexibility is just as important as planning—sometimes things don’t go as expected, and the ability to adapt quickly and find solutions is crucial.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Managing an event of this scale was far from easy. There were last-minute cancellations, logistical issues, and moments of chaos, but I remained committed to making the event a success. I had to step up, problem-solve on the spot, and ensure that everyone stayed motivated and on track. The long hours and challenges were exhausting, but seeing the event come together so successfully made it all worth it.

Final Takeaways

Global Odyssey taught me how to balance planning with adaptability, how to trust and delegate, and how to handle high-pressure situations with confidence. Most importantly, it reinforced the power of teamwork and communication. Seeing the stalls run smoothly and people enjoying the food made all the effort worthwhile, and it was a fulfilling reminder of how impactful strong leadership can be.
