The Staff Garba Fest was an energetic celebration that brought teachers and students together to enjoy traditional Garba. I volunteered to help with the decor, painting props and assisting in setting up decorations to make the venue colorful and inviting. The songs played continuously, and we danced for nearly two hours without noticing the time. The event was a great opportunity for everyone to connect, enjoy culture, and engage in physical activity together.
LO1: Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth
Garba requires stamina, coordination, and agility, and I initially found it challenging to keep up with the fast-paced steps. Dancing continuously on the warm concrete left me with sore feet, but I soon realized my strength in picking up the rhythm quickly and adapting to different dodhiya styles. I also noticed that my confidence needed improvement. At first, I hesitated to perform, worried about making mistakes. With encouragement from friends, I gradually overcame this fear and joined in with enthusiasm. This experience showed me that stepping out of my comfort zone can lead to growth and enjoyment.
LO5: Demonstrate the Skills and Recognize the Benefits of Working Collaboratively
Helping with the decor involved teamwork. I painted props and assisted with decorations while coordinating with my teammates to finish everything on time. Working together made the process faster and more enjoyable. This taught me the importance of communication, supporting others, and trusting the abilities of teammates. Collaborating effectively also gave me a sense of contribution and belonging.
LO6: Demonstrate Engagement with Issues of Global Significance
Garba is a traditional folk dance from Gujarat, and celebrating it helps preserve cultural heritage. Participating in this event encouraged appreciation for traditional art forms and showed how cultural events can bring people together. By helping with decor, I contributed to creating a welcoming space that supported participation. Events like these strengthen community bonds and promote the continuation of cultural practices, ensuring that traditional arts are celebrated and valued.
Conclusion
Overall, the Staff Garba Fest was a fun and meaningful CAS experience. Helping with decor and painting props allowed me to use my creativity while collaborating with others. The event challenged me physically, helped me grow in confidence, and gave me a deeper appreciation for cultural traditions. Being part of this celebration showed me how teamwork and effort can create a memorable and enjoyable experience for the whole community.
