The one-day trip to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls was a memorable experience that allowed me to explore nature, face physical challenges, and reflect on environmental responsibility.
Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. (LO1)
The trek to Bhavar Kada Waterfalls helped me better understand my personal strengths and weaknesses. I realized that I had the physical stamina to walk long distances and navigate rocky terrain, which gave me confidence in my endurance. However, I also noticed that I needed to improve in terms of preparation, such as staying hydrated, and planning for sudden changes in weather. By identifying both my strengths and growth areas, I became more self-aware and prepared for future outdoor activities.
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.(LO2)
The trek presented multiple challenges, especially when navigating steep and slippery paths. At first, the difficulty of balancing and maintaining a steady pace made me nervous, but I gradually learned to adapt by taking careful steps, supporting myself on rocks, and learning from peers who were more experienced trekkers. Overcoming these challenges strengthened my resilience and improved my problem-solving skills in unfamiliar environments. The experience also enhanced my ability to remain calm and composed while facing physical obstacles, which is a valuable skill both inside and outside of trekking.
Show Commitment and Perseverance in CAS Experience. (LO4)
Trekking to Bhavar Kada required consistent effort and perseverance. There were moments of physical fatigue, especially during uphill climbs and long stretches of walking, where it would have been easy to stop or slow down. However, I stayed committed to completing the trek and encouraged my peers when they struggled as well. This demonstrated not only my perseverance but also my ability to stay motivated and keep others motivated in challenging situations. The sense of accomplishment at the end made the effort worthwhile and showed me the importance of not giving up.
Engaging in issues of Global Significance (LO6)
The trip also made me reflect on the importance of preserving natural environments like Bhavar Kada. Waterfalls and trekking destinations are increasingly threatened by irresponsible tourism, littering, and deforestation. By experiencing this natural site firsthand, I understood how crucial it is to promote eco-friendly practices and protect biodiversity. This experience connected me to global concerns about environmental conservation and sustainable tourism. I left with a deeper appreciation of nature and the responsibility to act as an environmentally conscious individual.
