Global Odyssey 2025 – Creativity

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

As part of a five-member team managing our food stall at the Global Odyssey event under Creativity Basket-3, we were expected to collaborate equally for the success of our venture. I was responsible for bringing and preparing Alfredo spaghetti and brownies from our menu. These items required pre-event preparation and on-site finishing, which helped me identify my strengths in organization, creativity in presentation, and multitasking. At the same time, I recognized areas for growth such as time efficiency and quick portioning during high demand. By evaluating my performance and learning from the initial rush, I adapted and improved my speed and service quality.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Although cooking and food presentation are areas I am familiar with, preparing and serving dishes like Alfredo spaghetti, nachos, and brownies in a fast-paced event setting came with several challenges. I initially struggled with limited heating options and had to maintain the right texture of the pasta while ensuring quick serving. To overcome this, I used my problem-solving and communication skills to request support from neighboring stalls and reorganize the workflow at our station. I also handled cash and digital payments, bringing a QR code for online transactions to make the process smoother. These challenges helped me develop flexibility, resource management, and decision-making skills.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

For the Global Odyssey event, I demonstrated my planning and initiative by designing my CAS experience around selling popular yet manageable food items that would appeal to a wide audience. I chose Alfredo spaghetti, nachos, and brownies after researching crowd favorites and considering time, cost, and preparation logistics. I coordinated with my team to distribute responsibilities and ensured we had the right equipment and ingredients in advance. I also practiced plating and tested serving sizes beforehand, planning everything down to the smallest detail. This process helped me understand the importance of foresight, organization, and preparation in creative ventures.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Throughout the planning and execution of the Global Odyssey event, I consistently showed dedication to my responsibilities at the food stall. From cooking and packing to serving and managing transactions, I remained actively involved in every stage. Despite moments of pressure, long hours of standing, and sudden rushes of customers, I stayed focused and ensured our service was efficient and professional. I even took the time before the event to rehearse how to present the food neatly and creatively. This commitment and continuous effort demonstrated my perseverance and investment in making our CAS experience a success.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Our group of five had to share a limited space and coordinate multiple roles simultaneously. I mainly prepared and served Alfredo spaghetti and brownies but also took turns handling payments and communicating with customers. Effective teamwork was essential, especially during busy hours when we had to step in for each other and adjust our tasks quickly. We relied on trust, communication, and mutual support to keep everything running smoothly. This experience taught me the importance of cooperation, adaptability, and respecting each other’s strengths, which are essential when working toward a shared creative goal.

LO 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Through our participation in the Global Odyssey event, I engaged with broader social issues such as poverty and inequality. The earnings from our stall were partly donated to support underprivileged children, reinforcing the idea of using creativity and entrepreneurship as a tool for positive change. By offering dishes like Alfredo spaghetti and brownies, we also embraced cultural diversity and shared familiar comfort food with a wider audience. This experience made me more aware of how local creative actions can support global causes and bring awareness to social responsibility through small-scale initiatives.
