Spending a day trekking in Ahwa turned out to be both physically demanding and mentally rejuvenating. The trek cutting through forests and hilly areas of the Dang region, pushed my endurance and tested my willpower. At the same time, the serene landscapes provided moments of calm reflection and a refreshing escape from daily routines which also motivated to go further.
LO1: Recognizing strengths and identifying areas for growth
The trek helped me discover that I am resilient and determined when it comes to handling physical challenges. At the same time, it showed me where I need improvement, such as pacing myself better and planning hydration more effectively during long, strenuous activities.
LO2: Facing challenges and developing new skills
The sharp inclines and rocky tracks were unlike anything I had done before. Moving through these obstacles sharpened my balance and awareness of my surroundings. I also learned some essential trekking skills like pacing, careful foot placement, and energy management whcih made the journey safer and more manageable.
LO5: Teamwork and its benefits
Trekking as part of a group highlighted the importance of cooperation and mutual support. Whether it was sharing supplies lending a hand on tough stretches or encouraging one another in hard times, the sense of teamwork made a significant difference in the overall experience. The collaboration within the group ensured both safety and enjoyment throughout the trip.
LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance
The trek made me more aware of global environmental concerns such as deforestation and climate change. Experiencing the forest firsthand highlighted the need for sustainable practices like reducing waste avoiding plastic and respecting natural habitats.
