As part of my CAS journey, I participated in a group dance performance for our school’s farewell event. This experience not only allowed me to explore my creative side but also pushed me to grow personally and academically. Taking center stage for one of the dances was an empowering moment that challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and develop new skills.

LO 1 : Discovering Strengths and Areas for Growth
Through this experience, I discovered new strengths I never realized I had. Being at the forefront of the dance required me to develop leadership skills, which I had previously not exercised in such a public setting. I had to focus on precision, coordination, and timing—skills I hadn’t fully honed before. However, the process revealed areas for personal growth, particularly in my confidence and ability to handle pressure. It was a challenge to keep composure and perform in front of an audience, but through persistence, I learned how to manage stage fright and channel my energy into the performance.
LO 2 : Overcoming Challenges and Developing New Skills
Dancing wasn’t just about performing moves; it was about understanding the dynamics of group choreography and how my movements impacted the entire performance. One of the biggest challenges was synchronizing my movements with the group, making sure I stayed in tune with the others while still standing out as the lead. To overcome this challenge, I worked on my coordination and focus. I also had to learn how to adapt quickly during rehearsals, as last-minute changes were often made to the routine. This process was a clear example of how I developed new skills in a creative field.
LO 5 : Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of
working collaboratively
Collaborative Effort
Taking part in this performance also involved careful planning and dedication. From the initial rehearsals to the final show, I had to manage my time effectively, balancing schoolwork with rehearsals. I coordinated with my peers to ensure we were all prepared for the big day. This experience taught me how to initiate and plan a CAS experiencet, as I was involved in practicing regularly to ensure a smooth execution. I showed commitment by dedicating hours to perfecting the dance, even when the task felt overwhelming.
One of the most rewarding parts of this experience was working together as a group. A dance performance is never a solo endeavor—it’s the result of collaboration, trust, and teamwork. Each member had to understand their role, be it as a lead or supporting dancer, and contribute to the overall success of the performance. Through this, I recognized the benefits of working collaboratively and developed a deeper understanding of how synergy can enhance the outcome of a creative project.
This performance was not only a fulfilling artistic expression but also an excellent CAS experience that allowed me to explore my creativity, grow as an individual, and work collaboratively toward a common goal.
