On Friday, 25th July 2025, our school organized a one-day CAS trip to Bhavar Kada Waterfall, an enriching experience that combined adventure, teamwork, and reflection. The trip allowed me to meaningfully engage with all seven CAS learning outcomes, making it both personally rewarding and socially impactful.
LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
During the trek to the waterfall, I realized my strength in endurance and team motivation—I was able to encourage my peers when they felt tired. However, I also identified an area for growth: time management and preparedness. I had not packed light and carrying extra items slowed me down. This experience made me aware of how preparation can influence overall performance.
LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The trek involved navigating uneven terrain, slippery rocks, and steep slopes. At first, I found it challenging to balance on the wet paths, but over time, I learned how to use natural support like rocks and trees. This experience developed my adaptability and resilience, teaching me how to stay calm and focused under physically demanding conditions.
LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
The trek was tiring, and at one point, I felt like giving up due to exhaustion. However, I pushed myself to continue, motivated by the group’s energy and the goal of reaching the waterfall. By not giving up, I experienced the reward of perseverance, proving to myself that determination often leads to the most memorable outcomes.
LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Throughout the trip, collaboration was key. We helped one another with balancing on slippery rocks, shared water and snacks, and supported each other emotionally. Working collaboratively not only ensured everyone’s safety but also made the journey enjoyable. I understood that success in such experiences depends heavily on trust and cooperation within a group.
Conclusion
The Bhavar Kada Waterfall CAS trip was more than just a recreational outing; it was an opportunity for self-discovery, teamwork, and environmental responsibility. By engaging with 5 different learning outcomes, I not only challenged myself but also deepened my awareness of how personal actions connect to larger global concerns.
