The Global Odyssey is a student-led initiative which fosters entrepreneurship and cultural understanding. We contributed to the event by unleashing our creativity to design the decor. Being part of the decor team for the event was an important role because our creative efforts directly influenced the ambiance and overall experience for the attendees.

LO 1: Identifying Strengths and Growth:
I discovered my strength lies in conceptualizing and creating the overall aesthetic. However, I also realized the importance of improving my delegation skills. Initially, I found it challenging to complete tasks effectively. Nonetheless, I learned to leverage my team’s individual talents in more effective manner.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

We knew a solid plan was crucial to ensuring that our creative ideas come to life effectively. This involved brainstorming with teachers to come up with a idea that was eye catching. So then we came up with the theme ‘Pink Lemonade’ and we researched on decor inspiration that aligned with the pastel pinks, yellows and summer themes. Then we had to arrange the ideas according to the resources we had available, and what else to be bought according to the allocated budget. After preparing everything, we prepared a timeline for decor.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

Teamwork was crucial in the success of the event. The use of various collaborative skills such as communication skills, we regularly had to communicate to discuss ideas and ensure everything was going according to plan. There were also benefits of collaboratively working such as: developments of unique perspectives and ideas to improve on the quality of decor. Also working as a team we were able to share the workload which led to more efficient and productive work.
