Creativity 2: FSMUN

During my recent Model United Nations conference, I participated as a photographer in the International Press (IP) team, specifically covering the Human Rights Council (HRC) committee. This role challenged me to go beyond casual photography and develop my skills in capturing professional, high-quality images under real-time pressure.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
One of the main challenges I faced was working in a fast-paced environment where moments happened quickly and could not be recreated. I had to learn how to anticipate important interactions, adjust my camera settings rapidly to adapt to changing lighting conditions, and capture images that accurately represented the atmosphere of debate and diplomacy. Over time, I developed a sharper eye for timing and composition, as well as more confidence in using my camera creatively.

LO 4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The conference was spread across long sessions, and it required constant focus and effort to ensure that I did not miss important moments. Despite feeling tired at times, I remained committed to my role throughout the event, ensuring that I was present in the committee, documenting discussions, and meeting the expectations of the IP team. My perseverance helped me grow both as a photographer and as a team member who contributes meaningfully to a collective project.

LO 5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Working in the International Press team was a collaborative process. I had to coordinate with writers who were preparing articles, communicate with other photographers to divide coverage, and follow the directions of the editors. Through this teamwork, I learned the importance of effective communication, flexibility, and supporting one another to achieve the common goal of producing a high-quality MUN newsletter and photo archive.

Overall, this experience allowed me to use my creativity in photography while also developing valuable life skills such as perseverance, adaptability, and collaboration. It was both challenging and rewarding, and it has motivated me to continue exploring photography as a medium for creative expression and documentation.
