ISSO – Badminton 2024

Strand: Activity

Representing my school in the ISSO Badminton Tournament was both an exciting and humbling experience. I participated in the U-17 Girls singles as well as the team event, where we proudly secured 2nd place.

LO1 – Identifying strengths and areas for growth
This tournament helped me recognize my strengths—especially in terms of movement, focus, and consistency during long rallies. At the same time, I also saw areas where I need improvement, like staying calm under pressure and being more confident in tough situations.

LO3 – Planning and initiative
The journey to ISSO started much before the actual matches. It involved a lot of planning—regular practice, physical training, time management between schoolwork and badminton, and mental preparation. We also had to plan for how we would play as a team—who would play singles, who would play doubles, and how we could support each other best.

LO4 – Commitment and perseverance
There were definitely moments when things got tough—whether it was long training sessions, early mornings, or tired days after school. But showing up every day, pushing myself, and staying consistent helped me build more discipline and resilience. Even when I was nervous before a match or tired after a loss, I kept going.

LO5 – Teamwork and collaboration
Even though I played singles as well, the team event was my favorite part. We weren’t just individuals playing—we were a team that supported each other through every match. We encouraged each other, discussed game strategies, and celebrated every win together.

LO7 – Ethics and sportsmanship
Throughout the tournament, we made sure to respect every opponent and follow the rules, even in stressful moments. We clapped for good shots—even from other teams—and stayed humble whether we won or lost. Being fair and respectful made the whole experience more positive and meaningful.
