LIT fest

The Lit Fest held at my school was a wonderful celebration of books, poetry, and tales. I offered my help to the decoration team, where I assisted in creating and arranging decorations that fit the theme which was Inside Out. I also helped in managing groups of students when making them play games while developing extra patience and self-assurance.
My responsibilities involved crafting banners, organizing props, and adorning the main stage with the characters. We were on a strict timeline, making sure everything looked nice and was prepared before the start of the festival. Other than that, I arranged and led students in engaging in games that were focused on literature, making the experience more lively and fun for them. This position needed a lot of patience, excitement, and excellent communication abilities to maintain the interest of the participants. Managing a big group of students while playing games demanded extra patience and self-assurance, which I focused on developing throughout the event.

LOI 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Although I felt sure about my skills in art and event planning , I noticed that I needed to get better at managing my time and handling the decoration . I discovered how to work effectively while still paying attention to the finer details. Nevertheless, I discovered that managing a big group of students ranging from grade 1 to grade 12 while playing games needed a lot more patience and self-assurance, which I practiced throughout the event. Handling the audience during the game sessions was tough, since I needed to make sure that everyone grasped the rules and stayed involved. I improved my speaking and guiding abilities while also maintaining a lively atmosphere for the event.

LOI 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
A big hurdle was making decorations that looked good and could last till the D-day. I tried out various materials and figured out how to create designs that were both strong and eye-catching.
Even though I was helping out, I needed to quickly come up with ideas and make minor changes to the activities and decorations. This situation showed me the importance of being adaptable and ready to take action in organizing events.

LOI 3 – Initiate and plan CAS experience

My friend and I decided to make tongue twisters since all age group enjoyed it and we increased the difficulty of the tongue twister class wise. During decoration, I helped decide the decor, the materials to be used along with its placement and the precautions to take such as the durability of the decor since it was winters

LOI 4 – Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences

Even though I spent many hours cutting, painting, and putting together decorations, I remained committed to making sure everything was just right. The whole experience needed a lot of patience and teamwork, but seeing the end result was very satisfying.

LOI 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Teamwork was essential since I collaborated with others to share tasks, generate ideas, and set up the decorations efficiently. We helped each other and used our individual strengths to bring the festival’s theme to life

LOI 7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
We prioritized sustainability by choosing recycled materials whenever possible such as using the pages from old books where were going to be thrown away, which minimized waste while still allowing us to create beautiful decorations. This experience increased my awareness of eco-conscious event planning.

This CAS experience provided me with the chance to discover my creative and leadership skills while playing a part in a lively school event. I found out that managing an event needs good organization, patience, and a positive attitude, especially when dealing with younger children. Even with the difficulties, witnessing their happiness and excitement made the hard work feel rewarding. This experience not only improved my communication and teamwork abilities but also deepened my love for reading and hands-on learning.
