Bioscope 2.0 was a thrilling film showcase where I got to participate as both a host and a decorator. My responsibilities included leading two movie showings, interacting with the audience, and facilitating seamless shifts between different parts of the event. Moreover, I assisted with the decorations, ensuring the location matched the movie theme and improved the overall experience for attendees. This undertaking needed a combination of event planning, speaking to the public, and creative artistry, which made it a rewarding CAS experience.
LOI 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I came to understand that I have a talent for putting together events and connecting with people, but I also recognized that I need to improve my confidence when speaking in front of big groups.
LOI 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Organizing the screening schedule made me quickly adapt, handle the timetable, and convey information clearly to the viewers. I improved my speaking in front of people, gained self-assurance, and enhanced my ability to find solutions when unforeseen issues emerged.
LOI 3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Preparation was essential, particularly when working together with the tech team, making sure the gaps between movies flowed well, and handling time properly. Assisting with the decorations also needed advance planning to realize the film’s artistic idea.
LO4 – Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences
The preparation and hosting of the event took many hours of hard work, from putting up decorations to handling the screenings. Even when I was tired, I remained focused on making sure the audience had a pleasant and smooth experience.
LOI 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
I collaborated with my classmates and instructors, managing tasks together to ensure Bioscope 2.0 was successful. Good cooperation and clear communication were crucial for running the event without any issues.
LOI 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
This exhibition emphasized film’s strength in telling stories, showing culture, and raising awareness. My involvement helped spread the word about movies as an art that teaches and impacts viewers.
Bioscope 2.0 was an amazing opportunity for learning that moved me beyond my usual limits and helped me take part actively in the CAS project. I enhanced my skills in speaking in front of others, organizing events, and creative decorations, while also boosting my confidence in managing big events. This experience strengthened my love for movies and storytelling, making it one of the most unforgettable CAS experiences I have ever had.
