Cross-country running is an outdoor race on a natural terrain approved for competition. For me, it was a good way to test the limits of human endurance, both physical and mental. It was also a moment for reflection on my strong points and imposition on myself harder challenges. Plus, it was a great venue for learning and evaluation of my ability.
A Journey to Endurance and Mental Toughness
Having run three cross-country races of 3 km each race gave me a different level of change in my self in that I improved running skills and built my endurance and mental toughness. Most importantly, discipline and consistency were reinforced in me as needed in achieving the fitness goals that I have set. The worth of fitness comes to me as an understanding that it is not solely about physical health but about being fit in general. I learned much about myself, especially when I trained for longer distances, whereby my confidence and stronger ties between physical and mental fitness grew.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I maintained my endurance and dedication during the training by completing three runs despite being fatigued. But I also noticed that my pace varied too much, which was causing me to tire quickly. It was an inspiring discovery that revealed what I needed to Work On. I shall be working on my pacing strength through interval training in my workouts. On my side, it is as equally important for me to know my strength and weakness. These issues were advantageous for me to grow but to make me feel fitter and feel positive within myself!
Conclusion
Running across the country has been an incredible adventure that’s helped me discover my strengths and weaknesses, overcome obstacles, and stay determined. From feeling totally out of my depth in my first race to figuring out ways to improve my performance, each race was a chance to learn and grow. I not only got stronger physically and mentally, but I also learned the importance of being committed and prepared to succeed. This experience has not only changed how I run, but it’s also taught me valuable life lessons about persistence, flexibility, and the power of self-improvement.
