Being a part of the “Play2BeatCancer” pickleball tournament was a very great experience that mixed my passion for pickleball with a meaingful cause.This event not only provided an opportunity to play the sport but also served as a way to raise money for a good cause for cancer patients and their treatments which reflected the power of community engagement in addressing global health issues.
LO1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
Participating in the pickleball tournament allowed me to test my abilities critically as though I am good at the sport it made me find areas for improvement, such as enhancing my backhand technique and refining court positioning. Being able to fin these aspects have motivated me to pay more attention on those parts and practice more to elevate my gameplay.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
The different playing styles of the players present in the tournament presented challenges that required me to do quick thinking and movements.Facing aggressive players and those emphasizing precision compelled me to modify my tactics continually.This helped me improve my strategic approach and also reinforced the importance of maintaining resilience and a positive mindset when felt like losing.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
As pickleball is a team sport where 2 people play from 1 team effective communication and trust with my partner were important. Together we learned to support each other while making swift decisions during intense rallies, and anticipate each other’s moves, leading to a more cohesive and dynamic partnership. This helped us fostering a supportive environment where we shared advice and celebrated collective successes..
LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.
Participating in “Play2BeatCancer” underscored the role of community initiatives in combating widespread health challenges like cancer by merging sports and fundraising which is really nice as they go well together and also makes a good cause. The fact that was amazing is that I became part of a larger movement aimed at supporting cancer patients and advancing research.
Conclusion
The “Play2BeatCancer” tournament was more than just a sporting event as it was a lesson where I learned teamwork and got new knowledge and motivation to improve my gameplay while at the same time I contributed to a cause that affects millions of people affected by cancer. This tournament hilighted how people’s interests could align with other things for a cause which inspired me to seek future opportunities where personal growth and community service intersect.
