FS Got Talent

FS Got Talent was an exciting school-wide talent show that celebrated the artistic abilities of students. I was part of the decor team, responsible for designing and setting up the event space, and also had the incredible opportunity to host the event. In addition to being on stage, I wrote the hosting script, ensuring smooth transitions between performances and keeping the audience engaged. The event ran from 29th July 2024 to 23rd August 2024, and during this time, I developed key creative and collaborative skills. The experience was both rewarding and challenging, requiring quick thinking, teamwork, and adaptability—especially when faced with time constraints on the day of the event.

Explanation of Learning Outcomes

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

One of the biggest challenges I faced was time management. Balancing decor setup, scriptwriting, and rehearsals while ensuring the event ran smoothly required strong organizational skills. Additionally, due to last-minute script changes and unexpected delays, I had to improvise on stage. This experience helped me develop my ability to think quickly and adapt under pressure, a valuable skill for public speaking and event management.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

FS Got Talent required weeks of preparation, and there were times when I felt overwhelmed with my responsibilities. However, I remained committed to the process, dedicating extra time outside of school hours to perfect the hosting script and finalize decorations. Despite the pressure, I ensured that everything was completed on time, showing dedication and perseverance in making the event successful.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Collaboration was key to this experience. Working with the decor team taught me how to communicate effectively and coordinate efforts to bring our creative vision to life. As a host, I had to work closely with my co-host, backstage crew, and performers to ensure smooth transitions and maintain the energy of the show. This experience reinforced the importance of teamwork, problem-solving, and flexibility when working on large-scale events.

Conclusion

FS Got Talent was a memorable and transformative experience that allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. I developed public speaking skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and teamwork while navigating the challenges of event planning and execution. Through this CAS experience, I not only honed my creativity but also gained confidence in handling live audiences and last-minute challenges. Moving forward, I hope to take on more leadership roles in organizing school events and further refine my event management skills.
