Running distances as long as 5 km on a sunny day is something I have never done before. This activity helped me develop different attributes and provided me with different learning outcomes which still help me today in different areas.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
During the event I acquired and demonstrated resilience for running such long distances with speed. Past the event I had never done any such activity. This helped me discover my strengths, I did not know I had an ability to run such distances. And this was not just about my physical abilities and endurance. It was more about mental resilience. This activity helped me add discipline to my work. I chose to run regardless of being exhausted and this is something which still motivates me to do the same in other fields of work. However, this is still an area of growth. I believe I still have a potential to develop this attribute which will help me save time and become more work efficient.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
The event helped me acquire different skills which included forming different strategies to gain more efficiency. This was also quite challenging since I did not possess any significant experience in it, and there were many instances in which the strategies did not work resulting in exhaustion and fatigue. This experience helped me develop my physical and strength to run such long distances. This development was evident during the final session in which I had learned from my past stratergies and framed a efficient stratergy which resulted in a better performance.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The training and the final run was something which required high dedication and motivation in order to subside the pain and fatigue during the event. There were also instances where it was highly challenging to overcome the exhaustion and low energy levels during the event. Regardless of these challenges I chose to remain committed, showing perseverance. As a result, my performance during the final run was much better than the past training sessions.
LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions
Running long distances helped me develop a deeper understanding of my physical health. The initial training sessions made me realise the necessity of regular physical activities in my routine, and how I was abusing myself for such a long period of time and the effects of which were evident. This was something ethically wrong since it is morally wrong to cut down on health due to academics. This experience helped me get physical activities back to my routine with other academic commitments to ensure that I remain physically fit.
