This year, I had an opportunity on a journey into cross-country running with the aim of enhancing my physical fitness. Although I realised that the experience was more than the physical improvement. ”Most significant battles occur within” resonated with me as the track transformed into my personal arena. This not only improved my physical well-being but also helped me develop my skills and strengthen my ability.
LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:
Initially, I felt intimidated by the thought of completing three races, which then turned into a strength. earned to manage my pace, run longer distances, and find a steady rhythm. With each run, my self-doubt was replaced by a sense of achievement.. The process of overcoming these challenges allowed me to develop new skills, demonstrating my determination to my personal growth.
LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences:
When I first considered running three races, I felt unsure if I could handle it as it was out of my comfort zone. I was unaware whether if I should even participate, due to uncertainty of my capacity to meet the challenge. But crossing the finish line of the last race, despite feeling exhausted, was a great feeling. I learned that I didn’t just complete a physical task, I pushed myself through mental limits i had created in my mind that I could not do this.
In conclusion, this activity embodies the IB learner profile of being “Principled.” It required consistency, perseverance, and a principled mindset. I learned how pushing myself beyond my limits could lead to achieving goals I never thought possible. This experience has deeply reinforced the importance of being committed and principled in all aspects of life, not just on the race track.
