I offered to work on the Farewell decor team as a CAS volunteer under the Creativity category. I was given the task of working on a few of the decor pieces for the Batch of 2025’s final farewell. I helped with both the ideation process with the execution on paper. The décor for the occasion was a huge success, and many guests gave us positive feedback. The decorations enhanced the beauty of the 12th graders’ evening. Together with the core committee and the teachers who assisted with the planning, I was able to engage with a group of students who were working on the décor. The entire process of creating the decor was enjoyable and enlightening, but it took a lot of willpower to dedicate the necessary time.
LO 2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
We had difficulties coordinating as a team and getting everyone to participate during the farewell decor’s ups and downs. Nevertheless, we gave it our all and completed all of the work on schedule. Working with the available materials and using our artistic abilities to produce an eye-catching theme for the day presented additional difficulties. It was crucial to overcome these obstacles in order to successfully complete the work on schedule and make the decor successful enough for everyone to be happy. To become accustomed to working in a decor team and to learn more about the people involved, it was crucial to overcome these obstacles.
LO 3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
While I wasn’t the lead organizer, I was involved in the planning stages of the decorations. We had to brainstorm ideas, and fit the idea in a budget,. This helped me understand the importance of planning and organization in any event. We also had to contact school staff for permission to use certain areas and for the use of materials.
LO 4 Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
This CAS experience needed a lot of perseverance along with focus to work on the decor. We were obliged to come early to school everyday along with a few class pull-outs on the last days which compelled us to compromise on academic learning and concentrate ourselves to the decor job. We had to be dedicated to our ultimate objective, and we made every effort to reach it. It was crucial to have commitment in order to realize our objective.
