I participated in the Young Creators League, in which I created a product that addressed a global problem with ethical implications. I made a circuit which alerts drivers to turn off their highbeams while driving at night if there are other drivers around, an extremely prevalent problem in India that causes the majority of nighttime crashes. By using my product, more people will be safe and the ethical implications on this global issue are drastic. This product was selected out of over 1000 students by Plaksha University for the Grand Exhibition, showing an extreme degree of success in my product.

LO6: Engagement with issues of global significance

This is an extremely huge problem that is a major contributing factor to the extremely high number of deaths that happen per year all over the world. While keeping the high beams on at night despite there being other drivers affects India more than most other countries, it is still a huge problem that somehow does not have a global solution yet. I designed a circuit which solves this global issue by alerting drivers to turn off their high beams when other cars are nearby. This, if implemented, will save countless lives all across the globe and prevent careless nighttime driving.

LO7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

The ethical implications of this project are massive. The actions of people and their driving choices have led to the deaths of thousands of people every single year across the world. By recognizing and considering these ethics, I decided that there was an extremely strong need for a simple yet effective solution that could teach these people about the ethics behind what they are doing and why they need to be more aware about this issue. It is the daily choices that can completely change someone’s life, so even a small change such as adding my circuit to their car could be the difference between life and death or even preventing you from accidentally getting into crashes. It is an ethically right decision to be safer on the roads and to avoid becoming a danger to civilians and other drivers. My circuit assists all drivers in making more ethically correct decisions and works towards creating a safer, more secure future.
