The 2024 Dance Kalakriti was one for the books, replete with self-expression, emotion, and narrative through movement. With stunning solo performances, the stage was turned into a canvas of imagination, making it a celebration of art and strength of dance.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

I used this throughout the entire time I was assisting the judges during the spectacular talent showcase. My main job was to help the judges in whatever they needed, and to also update the judge marksheet for each of the performances to the digital spreadsheet in real time. Both the judges gave the participants different scores, so it was also my job to find the average of the scores they gave and insert that into the sheet in order to help them determine who the winner would be more easily, while also noting down the comments that they had for each of the participants to help them improve.

I needed to work with them collaboratively in order to understand and write down their comments, manage the show if there was any emergency issue, as well as collaborate with the other student volunteers that were in different venues in order to segregate the responsibilities given to us. In the beginning, we were also asked to check off the names of the schools that were present and how many performers they brought with them along with editing the list if there were any changes. There were 4 tables that the schools could go to, and I was working alongside 2 other student volunteers and a teacher to carry out this task. We had to fill a few sheets and hence, we divided them equally and asked each other for help if needed, working unifiedly, and making the experience easier for all as well.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

The entire event lasted for several hours without any break in between, and hence I could also not have taken a break since the judges would have to continue scoring the performances that were presented to them, and I would have to note them down. There were approximately 23 participants, with each performing a song of around 5-6 minutes which is why the event was quite long and I had to persevere in doing my responsibility.

Since, the performances were pretty short, they required continuous concentration, however I was committed to making sure that I note down the correct values and also ensure that the event in the venue I was given commenced and conducted smoothly with no major incidents if we could avoid it, handling any minor issues that arose, and maintaining coordination between the judges, performers, and event organizers. This helped insure a fair and seamless experience for all and also helped me understand the importance of responsibility and perseverance.
