Nightout – Creativity

The DP Night out was an event conducted on the 10th of January where all the students were provided a time to spend with their friends and teachers. In this night out I was in the committee where we organised a murder mystery and in coherence, the other grade would enjoy their relay race that was happening on the other ground. Then the event was followed by a band performance and DJ. To end the activities there was dinner followed by the main event of the night, the Night tournament which included sports like Basketball, Football, Badminton, Pickleball, Frisbee, and Cricket. Where in Cricket, Frisbee, Badminton and Pickleball consisted of 2 teams. Basketball had 4 and with the highest number of people was football with 6 different teams.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

While organizing this event I found out some strengths of mine. The biggest strength that I found out was the communication that was present between my group members (In this scenario my partner and I were in charge of cricket in the night tournament. I also during this event found out areas for growth, which were the communication skills while conducting the murder mystery, I found that I was not able to handle the number of people coming to me at once and asking to me the answers of the murder mystery. I struggled a lot to give the answer at the right time as many, near about 15-20 people came to me saying check the answers quickly which created chaos and that is something that I need to develop.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

The major challenge that I came across was stated above, however there were more challenges that I faced during the organization of this night out. There was a big confusion and people were opposing the teams that we divided stating that the team is unfair and we need this player to be in this team or that team whatsoever. Hence, my partner and I who were in charge of the cricket decided that let the captains be the same in the night tournament and they would divide the team on the spot and play in the teams divided respectively. Another challenge was the pitch for playing the night tournament, as we were assigned the Frisbee ground in the school and the pitch was not flat there. If the pitch is not flat, then there would be uneven bounce in the pitch which could lead to injury to the players. So in this situation as well, I and my partner went to meet the events team in school, and we arranged ropes to be placed on the ground, which would give a layout for the pitch, and then we watered the pitch and made it better than before. It was not proper flat, as there were small stones in between however it was playable. The new skill that I developed was coordination as I and my partner were handling cricket in the night tournament, and also handling the murder mystery.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

This LO was also achieved as all the things were planned by our whole team, the menu, the Song in the band performance, the teams, the sports to be played, the games in the relay race etc.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

In this experience, there was commitment required as we did not have enough time to plan this event as first there was our rural immersion trip, and then only 1 day was there and then there was a winter vacation following. This was the main reason for the commitment that was needed in this event organization.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

There were many benefits of working collaboratively in this event organization as there were people who were needed to organize things in this event like, we needed to decide the menu, and we all gave our perspectives on the menu, which made us have pointers that what type of food should be present in the night out. Also, we also had to gather members for the band performance that was conducted and working collaboratively helped us to gather the members easily.

Conclusion:-

To conclude, there were many factors that are stated above which helped us to make this event a success and make this a memorable night for the students of the 12th grade as they had their last night out of school.
