Each year at the Global Odyssey Event students receive a memorable curriculum-based opportunity that teaches them about entrepreneurship principles. My team and I opened a food stall during this occasion to sell timepass with Nutella and chocolate slices from Hershey’s and blue lagoon and white sauce pasta to customers. We aimed to welcome customers as well as run our operations smoothly while accomplishing our profit targets. Beyond regular food selling activities this experience required us to invent solutions swiftly while co-operating as a group thus providing an enriching educational experience.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
This experience allowed me to identify my strong points in dealing with customers as well as handling financial matters. My role consisted of positive contacts with customers while encouraging food sampling and delivering guest satisfaction. I handled both financial expenses and sales revenue tracking to maintain our profitability levels. I noticed in addition to my existing strengths I need to work on enhancing both food preparation efficiency and peak customer service management systems. When working at this establishment I learned that executing various duties required both quality performance and sustained service delivery.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Multiple hurdles appeared during my experience with operating a food stall before maintaining both crowd management alongside inventory control and ensuring hygiene standards and food quality standards. We reacted quickly to situations where our ingredients needed reordering and when we had to change our menu prices according to customer demand patterns. My ability to handle these challenges forced me to master problem-solving expertise while acquiring adaptability skills together with better business operational knowledge. Team management required effective communication along with delegation skills according to my experience.
LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience
A spontaneous approach to operating a food stall will fail without proper preparation for smooth execution. Our planning process started exactly fifteen days ahead of the planned date. We determined our food items for sale by creating a menu featuring timepass alongside cookies with Nutella toppings and chocolate slices with Hershey’s syrup alongside blue lagoon and white sauce pasta. Afterward we selected our stall name followed by logo creation work for better brand recognition. We determined which ingredients and kitchen equipment as well as serving materials should be purchased to guarantee event preparedness. The team divided responsibilities among its members to streamline operations when the event commenced. Professional planning proved important for us to achieve success with our food stall.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The process of transforming our food stall from an initial concept into an operational business demanded faithful commitment from us. Operating a food stall while handling big food batches and constant customer needs together with business maintenance required both patience and hard work. The challenges along with periods of fatigue never halted our commitment to our goals since we continuously adjusted our approach while staying positive throughout. The whole experience taught us that having resilience helps us triumph over obstacles.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Teamwork functioned as our main driving component which led us to succeed. Every staff member brought expertise to handle either kitchen operations or financial management or marketing or direct customer interaction responsibilities. The efficient distribution of responsibilities together with mutual support established an organized and productive setting at work. Teamwork combined with effective communication created a smooth operation of the stall which demonstrates that working as a unit produces important objectives jointly.
Conclusion
The Global Odyssey Event combined entrepreneurial skills with teamwork and problem-solving into one enriching opportunity. Through this event I learned practical business techniques plus enhanced my capacity to manage actual operational challenges as I discovered the value of efficiency and teamwork. This valuable experience will guide my business practices for upcoming business challenges.
