For the second season for Monsoon Musings, I was given the opportunity to participate and showcase my literary work adhering to one of the multiple themes given for the event. This platform was a place for me to showcase not just my skills but also my love for literature and was an opportunity for me to hear new and fresh perspectives. I was able to listen to people from various paths of life and talk about the different experiences they’ve had and what they’ve gone through which also inspired me for any future writing I might do.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.
While writing the piece for this event, I had the opportunity to recognize the strengths I possessed in creative writing. This helped me identify what I’m naturally good at in writing, whether it’s using descriptive language, evoking emotion, or exploring deep themes. At the same time, I had to develop my brainstorming skills for the same, thinking about how my personal experiences could be aligned with the themes that were given to me to adhere to. I learnt to think outside the box and think about how I could write a monologue on the theme “seasons”.
LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.
The monologue, by reflecting on the emotional experiences tied to changing seasons, can symbolize the struggles people face globally, such as dealing with grief, hope, loss, or renewal. Through literature, I was able to connect these personal emotions to larger societal issues, raising awareness about how emotional health is a critical aspect of well-being everywhere. This kind of writing fosters empathy and encourages a deeper understanding of shared human experiences, which is a key element of global engagement.
