Lit Fest – Creativity

As part of the LIT Fest 2025, I had the opportunity to be involved in the Games Team, where we created a Cornhole game that tied into Language and Literature. This experience was an exciting way for me to contribute to a larger event that celebrated creativity and Literature genres. Throughout the planning and execution of the game, I learned valuable lessons about teamwork, creativity, and perseverance. In this blog, I’ll reflect on how this experience helped me meet the CAS learning outcomes and how it helped me grow both personally and as a team member.

LO1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth

Being a part of the Games Team for LIT Fest 2025 helped me recognize my strengths and areas where I could improve. One of my strengths is creativity. I was able to come up with the idea of connecting the Cornhole game to literature, making it unique and fun. However, during the planning process, I realized I needed to work on being more patient when things didn’t go as planned. At times, I felt frustrated when certain tasks took longer than expected, and I realized that being patient with others and the process is important. This experience helped me grow in this area and taught me to stay calm when things don’t go smoothly.

LO2: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Organizing the Cornhole game for LIT Fest gave me a chance to practice how to plan and carry out an idea from start to finish. My team and I brainstormed ways to connect the game with literature, and we designed the rules and setup. I took part in organizing the space, gathering materials, and helping make sure everything was ready for the event. While planning, I learned how to work together with others and adapt to any changes or challenges that came up. The process taught me how to manage a project and be flexible when things didn’t go exactly as planned.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

During the planning of the Cornhole game for the LIT Fest, I had to make sure that the choices we made were respectful and fair to everyone involved. We carefully thought about how the game could be inclusive, so all students, no matter their ability or skills,so that everyone could participate and have fun. We made sure the rules were easy to follow and that the game didn’t favor anyone over others. I learned that when organizing an event, it’s important to consider how our decisions can affect people’s experiences and make sure everyone feels welcome and valued.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

While planning the Cornhole game for the LIT Fest, I had to think about how our choices would affect everyone. We wanted to make sure the game was fun for all students, no matter their skills or experience. This meant we had to create rules that were fair and allowed everyone to enjoy the game. We also made sure the game was inclusive, so no one felt left out. This experience taught me how important it is to think about fairness and respect when organizing something, as our decisions affected how people enjoyed the event.

Conclusion

My experience in the LIT Fest 2025 was a great opportunity to learn and grow. Being part of the Games Team helped me develop new skills, like creativity and patience, while also teaching me how to plan and manage an event. It showed me the importance of making fair choices and staying committed, even when things get tough. Overall, this experience helped me understand how I can use my skills to make a positive impact and be a better team member in the future.
