Rural Immersion trip to Ambapani – Creativity,Activity and Service

Living in a rural area called Ambapani for six days was a very transformative experience , immersing me in this lifestyle was a stark contrast to our urban routines. My goal was to learn how to live in a rural life and apply those in my lessons.Known for his farming technique and unique furtniture, Ambapani gave us a chance to engage in hands-on learning and service showcasing all strands of CAS:Creativity,Activity and Service.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

The trip started with challenges and developing learning opportunities. On the first day, we did the community clean up plastic collection by collecting the plastic wastes which was there by river side in which we have to collect the waste and had to put it in the bag.We developed the skills of self management in other challenges which we faced during the trip was in Warli painting as we do have to manage our time to complete the art work during a given period of time so that we could reflect about it later. The most exiciting challenge was that in Ambapani we had gone through the asharamsala visit in which we do have to serve food to the students who were studying there so first we have to serve food to them and also had to play games such as frisbee and football which was most amazing part of the trip which was a good gesture by our school which bought them both students and teachers happiness and joyfullness on their faces.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance

During the village visits we interacted with the locals and learned about their daily lives. It was a very eye-opening session with them how rural people are living their lives and how the urban people are living they also talked about that.Desspite their were less resources available in the villages the locals and sarpanches who were living their were very happy with the facilities they were provided with.We witnessed issues such as Sustainable Cities and Communities,Responsible Consumption and Production,Climate Action,Life Below Water,Life on Land with the SDGs.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics choices and actions

I was very hesistant in living rural area for six days initially the day developed in such a way that the time went must faster in doing all the experiences which were there day by day.Adapting to a lifestyle ne without fans, filled with insects, and reliant on local food—was difficult but also enriching. One of the most impactful actions my group took was convincing parents to send their daughter to school, despite their reluctance.Through this rural immersion trip, I learned about sustainability, community, and interconnectedness. Observing the production of dairy products and the daily routine of cows taught me about sustainable practices. Interacting with villagers and spending time with the Ashramshala students deepened my understanding of the community.
