Anand Utsav

This is an event which is led by the students of grade 11 and 12 for the appreciation of the support staff and to thank them for the hard work they do every single day for the students and teachers. On this day, we plan various different activities and games for the support staff, serve food, and many more so that they can enjoy at least once a year with their friends and can show their talents, and at the end we plan a short graba festival or dance and provide a certificate as a piece of appreciation.

LO 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

One of my weaknesses in Anand Utsav was my ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with my teammates in activities. As a volunteer, I was responsible for ensuring that the support staff members were engaged and interested in the games and activities. I initially struggled with handling large groups and maintaining their enthusiasm. After some of the groups went by, I got some knowledge about how to handle large numbers of people and how to attract them towards the activities, then I was easily able to interact with the support staff and engage them towards the activities we had planned. This experience helped me recognize my strengths in teamwork while also identifying areas such as speaking in front of a large number of audience.

LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Anand utsav was a school event, still it reflected at a global scale showing the fair treatment of support staff in workplaces. Around the world, the support staff in school go unnoticed without recognition and any attention despite their contributions. The support staff globally are not appreciated for their efforts towards their workplace, that is why we decided to organise an event so that we could give them a piece of appreciation but also enjoy with their friends in various different activities. This experience deepened my awareness of appreciating and valuing the support staff and acknowledging their efforts. This even inspired me to think about the ways to contribute more.

LO 7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

This event helped me understand the ethical responsibility of expressing appreciation and respect towards the support staff who often do not receive any appreciation or recognition. Every action towards the support staff reflected the ethical considerations of appreciation. It helped me reflect on how small steps of kindness and respect can significantly impact the audience at a greater level.

To conclude, volunteering at anand utsav was a tiring experience but rewarding, this event helped me grow socially and personally. It strengthened communication skills, and teamwork skills as we had to divide all the roles for every member and work at different venues in small groups. This service event was not only about giving, but also learning different activities and skills.
