As part of my Global Odyssey journey, I had the exciting challenge of organizing a pickleball tournament with FUN. It was a super fun experience, but it also pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me a lot about leadership, teamwork, persistence, and problem-solving.
LO2: Taking on Challenges and Learning New Skills
Organizing this tournament was a completely new experience for me. I had to plan the event, coordinate with participants, set up schedules, and make sure everything ran smoothly. One of the biggest challenges was managing last-minute changes, like adjusting the match timings and making sure everyone knew the rules. I had to think on my feet, communicate effectively, and stay organized. By the end of the event, I had learned so much about event management and problem-solving.
LO4: Staying Committed and Pushing Through
Planning an event like this wasn’t easy. There were a lot of moving parts, and sometimes things didn’t go as planned. I had to stay committed, even when things got stressful, like when I had to make quick decisions or handle unexpected issues. There were moments I felt overwhelmed, but I kept pushing through. Seeing the tournament come together successfully made all the effort worth it and showed me how important persistence is.
LO5: Teamwork and Communication
Organizing this event wasn’t something I could do alone—I had to work with a team. I had to communicate clearly, delegate tasks, and make sure everyone was on the same page. During the tournament, I also had to coordinate with players and ensure a fair and fun environment. This experience reinforced how crucial teamwork is and how good communication can make or break an event.
Conclusion
Overall, organizing the pickleball tournament was an amazing experience. It helped me develop leadership skills, learn how to manage an event, and improve my ability to handle challenges. I’m really proud of how it turned out, and I now see how taking on responsibilities like this can lead to personal growth in ways I never expected.
