On 31 January 2025, I organized and ran a games stall for an in-school event. I, along with my group members, selected the games carefully that would draw visitors to our stall while making it visually appealing and attractive. This activity came under the Creativity strand of CAS since it involved brainstorming, designing, and implementing a plan that was fun as well as functional.
Why a Games Stall?
I volunteered to take part in this activity as I like planning and organizing events that unite people. A good games stall does not only enhance the fun in an event but also has a higher purpose—to raise funds for charity. This activity helped us support a No Poverty cause, further emphasizing the fact that every small, creative action can create a significant impact.
LO1 – Identifying Strengths and Areas for Improvement
This experience enabled me to identify my planning and teamwork strengths. I learned that I excelled at brainstorming interesting game concepts and coordinating the smooth delivery. I also realized areas of improvement, including time management and dealing with surprise issues during the event.
LO4 – Demonstrating Perseverance and Dedication
Establishing a successful stall entailed ongoing effort, from coming up with game ideas to planning the layout and dealing with visitors. Throughout this process, I stayed focused on making our stall work well, even under time pressures or logistical issues.
LO6 – Engagement with Issues of Global Significance
The main objective of the games stall was to fundraise for a No Poverty campaign. Utilizing entertainment as a vehicle to promote a cause, we were able to create awareness and make a contribution towards a bigger social cause. This experience further instilled the need to find innovative means of supporting the less fortunate.
Learner Profile Attribute: Communicators
Teamwork was critical in ensuring our stall was a success. From brainstorming game concepts to allocating tasks among team members, open communication was instrumental in ensuring a seamless experience. We needed to engage with visitors, clarify game rules, and handle crowds well, further developing our confidence in communicating clearly and confidently.
Conclusion
Organizing and operating a games stall was a valuable experience that intertwined imagination, teamwork, and social awareness. It not only enabled me to improve my organizational and communication skills but also emphasized the value of implementing entertaining and interesting activities for a more noble cause. From this experience, I discovered that every little effort, if implemented with persistence, can result in a significant bigger difference.
