Community service – Service

Community service is something that our school does every year by reaching out to the government / under-privileged schools near the area and engaging the young students into different activities that take place in our school. Activities like Fun with math, Art and craft, Frisbee, Dance and many more. Students of grade 11 and 12 work as volunteers and engage with the other student.The community service program at your school serves as a vital bridge between students from different backgrounds, creating meaningful interactions and opportunities for growth.

LOI 1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

Community service gave me an opportunity to extend myself and leave my comfort zone by communicating with kids I wasn’t aware of, through this I was able to learn things about myself such as how great I am with kids and how comfortable I can make them feel. This community service also was an alarm for me to do arts as it was something that I really enjoyed throughout. 

LOI 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

I was never a person who can communicate effectively, especially when I don’t know them and in the beginning community service was a true challenge to me but as the process went by I was able to cope up with all the communication and really enjoyed the whole process. One skill that I developed through this was communication skills. Adding on, one other challenge that I encountered was management, I wasn’t able to manage all the things effectively because the community service was held on weekends which didn’t me the restart break I need to manage things, but again thanks to the community service program I was able to acquire proper time management skills. 

LOI 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

Collaborating during community service has aided in the development of critical abilities and the realization of the potent advantages of cooperation. We had to combine our distinct perspectives and strengths every day in order to solve problems in a novel way and produce significant outcomes. I improved my communication skills by learning how to listen intently, articulate my thoughts clearly, and settle disputes by identifying points of agreement. This experience demonstrated to me how teamwork can simplify difficult jobs and have a positive impact on the community. Overall, I’ve become a more productive and team-oriented person as a result of working collaboratively, which has taught me the value of sharing duties, encouraging empathy, and supporting others.

LOI 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

Regardless of color or class, everyone should have access to high-quality education as it is a fundamental right. Inequality and discrimination, however, keep many disadvantaged people from getting the education they are entitled to in today’s society. Because of their financial situation, people from lower social backgrounds frequently encounter obstacles and rejection. I was able to address these problems and try to close the educational gap through this project, which will assist to increase access to high-quality education for everyone.

For me personally, taking part in a community service initiative has changed everything. As I tried to comprehend and meet the needs of others, it enabled me to grow in empathy, patience, and responsibility. I developed fresh insights and learnt how to communicate successfully even when resources were scarce or divergent opinions emerged by interacting with a variety of people and taking on real-world problems. In addition, I gained useful problem-solving abilities and a strong dedication to service, both of which have motivated me to keep giving back to my community. All things considered, the event deepened my personal beliefs and aided in my development as a proactive, caring person.
