PS: Table Tennis (Activity)

Acquiring table tennis skills was a thrilling experience that challenged me to venture out of my comfort zone and accept a new challenge. As a person who loves discovering new skills, I opted for table tennis over other sports such as frisbee to improve my reflexes, coordination, and general fitness. Between June 17 and October 29, I participated in frequent table tennis training under the supervision of a mentor. From scratch, I learned the basics gradually, enhanced my skill, and built strategic minds for the game.

Learning Outcomes Attained: 1, 2, 4

Table tennis was not only a sport to me; it was a test of endurance, discipline, and ongoing improvement. Every session tested my reflexes, concentration, and capacity to respond to quick situations.

Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth (LO1): My strength was that I was willing to learn new challenges and remain motivated in the face of initial failure. I learned quickly to master basic techniques and liked practicing regularly. I knew that my footwork and consistency needed to be developed, particularly against more skilled opponents. To correct this, I extended my practice time and targeted specific drills.

Demonstrate Challenges Overcome and Gain New Skills (LO2): It was hard to learn table tennis from ground zero, but especially when having to master the spin and play at a rhythm. Every session challenged me to perfect my craft, enhance hand-eye coordination, and think tactically. Eventually, I improved my confidence on the court by realizing the essence of patience and accuracy.

Demonstrate Commitment and Perseverance (LO4): My dedication to learning table tennis was reflected in my regular practice routine and resolve to enhance my skills. There were instances of frustration, particularly when improvements were slow, but I would remind myself that developing skills takes time and consistency. Small triumphs, such as mastering a specific stroke or winning a practice match, encouraged me to keep going.

I learned the importance of discipline, determination, and constant self-enhancement from this experience. It also taught me to venture out of my comfort zone and accept challenges positively. The abilities I cultivated—concentration, flexibility, and persistence—will certainly help me in other aspects of life.
