The CAS trip to Padamdungri was an amazing experience where I got to spend quality time with my friends, try new adventures, and learn about a different way of life in the Rural areas. During this journey, I discovered my strengths, faced new challenges, worked as a team, and thought about important global and social issues. The camp was not just about helping the local community it was also a great chance for me to grow as a person, develop new skills and step out of my comfort zone.
LO1: Identifying your own Strengths and develop Areas for personal growth
This experience helped me recognise my strengths and areas that need improvement. I realized that I am good at adapting to new environments, connecting with people, and taking initiative in group activities. However, I also identified areas for personal growth. Some responsibilities, such as managing time during community service or working with others during the production of the skit, took more patience and planning than I had anticipated.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The camp pushed me out of my comfort zone by challenging me with physical, mental, and social tasks. Working under the hot sun for the community for hours every single day challenged me physically and mentally but I pushed myself and managed to give my full contribution in every single tasks.I learned from these difficulties that perseverance and hard work are necessary for development.
LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Planning and organizing were key aspects of the camp, especially while preparing the school skit, arranging games for the children, and collaborating on various tasks. Whether it was making sure the skit was well-rehearsed, setting up games for the students, or coordinating with others for different activities, careful planning helped everything go efficiently. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of the effort and teamwork required to successfully organize CAS projects.
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
During the rural immersion experience, I worked hard and kept going even when things were difficult. Whether it was working in the hot sun on the farm, practicing for the skit, or helping with community projects, I made sure to stay focused and do my best. One task that really required patience was painting the school walls. It took time and effort, but seeing how much better the school looked in the end made it worth it. Another challenge was waking up early every day, even though we stayed up late sometimes. Even though I was tired, I made sure to stay active and involved throughout the trip.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
During the rural immersion, I learned how important it is to work together as a team. Whether we were getting ready for the skit ,planning community events, or working together for activities like wall painting. I was clear that teamwork was very essential. Every day, I worked with my peers, sharing ideas and dividing tasks to make sure everything was done well. We also needed to coordinate with the local community for some activities, which meant good communication was important. For example, when we did cow dung lippon on the walls of the local villagers houses, we all worked together to finish the task on time.
LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.
This immersion experience helped me understand important global issues. Visiting the turmeric processing unit made me realize the challenges small farmers face and the need for sustainable farming. Learning about forest conservation and interacting with the local community showed me how hard it is to balance human needs with environmental protection. I also noticed water scarcity in many areas, as well as power cuts and poor hygiene, highlighting the struggles rural communities face.
LO:7 Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
During the trip I made sure to think about how our actions affected both people and the environment. As visitors it was important to respect local culture and traditions. We also tried to be kind to nature and not cause harm. Walking through the forest helped me see how important it is to protect plants, animals, and natural spaces. This trip taught me that as tourists we should take responsibility for our actions and try to make a positive impact. Even small choices can make a big difference so we need to be careful with the decisions we make while traveling.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Padamdungri trip was good experience for my personal growth. Despite facing challenges, it helped me develop skills like teamwork, perseverance, and a deeper understanding of global issues. The trip expanded my perspective and made me more aware of the importance of sustainability and community. It was an amazing experience that allowed me to change my perspective on how I see rural life.
