Pickleball Tournament – Activity

Every year student initiatives give participants chances to help meaningful purposes while also developing personal skills. When I took part in Play 2 Beat Cancer pickleball tournament I supported cancer treatment fund generation. The tournament united athletic determination with charitable purpose because it directed all revenue toward funding medical help for people in need. Apart from participating in the tournament as a player I actively supported preparation efforts and served as an umpire in matches.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Participating in this event allowed me to discover my skills in both teamwork along with sportsmanship and adaptability. The tournament process needed my ability to effectively teamwork with my teammates together with maintaining both communication and concentration during pressurized moments. My skills in handling disputes calmly and controlling intense match emotions needed improvement. The event showed the significance of remaining composed and playing fairly throughout competition as both participant and officiator.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

The skills from facing challenges will be demonstrated through successful skill development.
The participation in this major competition required me to face various obstacles. I needed to quickly adapt during challenging high-stress match situations as well as unscheduled event program shifts throughout the competition. I struggled with several obstacles as an umpire because I needed to make decisive actions while promoting game fairness. I learned to improve all aspects of decision-making and flexibility and my communication abilities.

LO 4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience


The obstacles did not deter my commitment to achieve tournament success. Throughout every part of the event preparation I remained committed to providing support for its operational integrity and the management of gameplay delivery. I devoted my attention to making positive contributions throughout the event while my determination supported the tournament’s successful result.

LO 5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively


The success of the event primarily depended on collaborative work between participating groups. During the matches I joined my fellow players and event staff to maintain fair competition and operational efficiency when matches needed to switch. My duty as umpire involved working together with other officiating staff to maintain consistent application and equitable practices throughout the tournament. The experience demonstrated how teamwork together with communication and mutual respect makes it possible to reach common goals successfully.

LO 6: Engagement with issues of global significance


Playing took center stage for me throughout the event although it created a meaningful social impact. The collected money enabled cancer treatment for patients globally. My involvement in Play 2 Beat Cancer deepened my knowledge about how community projects address major challenges and gave me joy to learn that my participation supported local patients’ needs.

LO 7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

The tournament required me to maintain awareness about moral obligations in my roles as player and official through LO7. My role demanded complete honesty and integrity alongside fair playing ethics in every match scenario and match officiation event. I understood that the strategic success of the event depended on following ethical standards such as being transparent together with respect for our supported cause. Making ethical decisions proved essential in every aspect of court activity and daily life according to the event.

Conclusion

The experience of supporting Play 2 Beat Cancer enabled my personal growth as I participated in an honorable mission. My responsibilities consisted of game participation and officiating duties but I simultaneously learned vital abilities from working on teams and making choices with ethical standards in a setting that supported this vital purpose. I learned through this experience that individual conduct accumulates to create a meaningful difference.
